Our course of action:

Traveled to Kilis, Turkey (where earthquakes had severely
impacted children and locals), after successfully raising funds for
our campaign.

  • Day 1:

    • Met with the Turkish Kizilay (Red Crescent) branch leader.

    • Collaboratively developed a relief plan.

  • First 3 days:

    • Partnered with two Kizilay volunteers.

    • Distributed food boxes to those in need.

    • Registered individuals for continued assistance.

  • Next 4 days:

    • Purchased clothes, shoes, and food for orphaned children.

    • Instead of donating funds to an orphanage, we personally
delivered supplies using a list provided by Kizilay.

    • Worked alongside Kizilay volunteers, as well as our own
      team of friends and family.

  • Continuously provided food for stray cats and dogs.

  • Dedicated an entire day to locating and feeding animals in
    need.

  • Spent several months planning and executing the entire
    initiative.

What our team did

Our team of 15 people divided tasks to work efficiently.

  • We received a list of children affected by the earthquakes,
including their names, addresses, and clothing sizes.

  • Task breakdown:

    • 8 team members: Chose clothing and shoes based on
each child's size, packed them into personalized gift
      bags.

    • 3 team members: Double-checked the list to ensure
      sizes were correct.

    • 5 team members: Helped distribute the clothing, shoes,
      and food.

  • A Kizilay volunteer guided us to the correct addresses for
    deliveries.

How Many kids we impacted

After everything was said and done, we helped around onehundred and three kids and over eighty animals (cats anddogs). Thanks to the generous donations, these childrenwere able to wear clean and nice clothing for Eid, animportant holiday in Islam. Every child we assisted hadeither lost one or both parents and were living in extremepoverty. In addition to the snack packs provided to thekids, we wanted to offer substantial food, so we donatedmeat to over fifteen low-income households.

Why we helped the animals

Although our main focus was helping children, we couldn’t ignore the many stray animals, mainly cats and dogs, struggling on the streets. After speaking with locals and doing some research, we learned that many animals had either died or been severely injured during the earthquakes. Beyond that, some people would take in puppies and kittens but abandon them once they grew, making the situation even worse. Wanting to help, we set aside some of our funds to buy food for them. We always kept a large bag of cat and dog food in our car while driving around so we could feed the strays we encountered. Additionally, we donated food to locals, allowing them to help care for the animals as well.
